History of Bahrain:
Bahrain is the land of mythical fantasies and has a string of tales surrounding it. Earlier called as Dilmun, by the ancient Sumerians, the country was a paradise, free of all the sufferings on earth, according to its mythology. Bahrain was under the  Portuguese rule from

1521 to 1622. Then it was attacked by many tribes and it came under the British protectorate also. Oil was discovered here in 1931.

About:
Bahrain is the ultimate destination if you are looking for an escape that will enliven your spirits and give you the holiday of a lifetime.  Bahrain has all the attractions to suit the travelers' eyes and desires. With its splendid beaches and fantastic shopping, Bahrain, the archipelago of 33 islands, is no less than a paradise.  Bahrain's reputation as a relatively liberal and modern island has made it a favorite with travelers in the region along with an increasing number of tourists from outside the region due to a growing awareness of the Kingdom’s high profile with regards to the Bahrain International F1 Circuit, to which Bahrain has the longest F1 contract in existence.

Bahrain has a central geographic location to the GCC of Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the United Arab Emirates and is physically connected by road to Saudi Arabia, the region's largest single consumer.

Language:

The official language of Bahrain is Arabic, since it is predominantly a Muslim country. However, English is also widely spoken language here.  Other languages used are Urdu, Hindi, Farsi, Tagolog and Russian.

Population:
Bahrain's population grew almost 41% and crossed one million people last year as the foreign population nearly doubled over 2006.  The population of the smallest Gulf Arab economy was 1.05 million people at the end of December, compared with 742,560 a year earlier, the Central Bank of Bahrain said in a statement on its website.  The non-Bahraini population jumped 82.5% to 517,368 people, nearly half of the total population, the data showed.

Business:
Bahrain has recently been named one of the world’s best places to do business – and to live.  It has one of the fastest growing economies in the GCC and it ranks as the 18th easiest country worldwide to do business.  It is also the world's least taxed country with zero percent income tax.  This may be the

reason for such a boom in the population in recent years.  Also, being considered the new IT and Financial hub of the Middle East has lead to a boom in the real estate sector with an average of 27.4% growth per annum.  Demand for rental accommodation rose by 60 percent in 2006 and continue to rises along with the demand for Freehold property amongst expats and investors alike.  Tourism in Bahrain soared by 30 percent in the first quarter, way ahead of its nearest rival Dubai – UN Tourism Organization.  You must to visit this country to experience it.
